Who are these guys anyway?
The Centurion Project has its name rooted both in scripture and in history:
The centurion referred to in Acts Chapter 10 was a devout and God-fearing man who gave himself to prayer and gave generously to those in need. It was these two characteristics of prayer and generosity to the poor that went up as a memorial offering before God and ultimately ushered in a wave of salvation.
Likewise, the centurion of Matthew 8 was a man of great faith.
These two men give us some of the foundational principals on which The Centurion Project is built. Our partners are men and women of prayer, faith and generosity towards others.
Historically, the centurion of ancient Rome was an extra-ordinary man. He was a leader of great ability. He was required to equip, feed, cloth and arm himself and the one hundred men under his leadership at his own expense. He was also expected to be a skilled builder and engineer, a man who did not stumble at the first hurdle. The centurion was to be a resourceful man who found solutions, who made things happen. He was also to be a man of great physical and moral courage.
These are some of the principals that we desire to build The Centurion Project on. Our partners are to be men and women of courage and conviction, who choose to use their skills, talents and resources for the benefit of others.
We desire, like the centurions of old, to leave a legacy of leadership, resourcefulness, courage, prayer, great faith and generosity towards the poor.
We are not about raising money, we are about releasing resources: People, Funding, Projects.
We hold sacrificial giving as a key value: "Will you live simply, so that others can simply live?"
